Shinto : Concept and Actor Taxonomy

The Concept

The approach for developing the project at this site will be approached by observing the actor taxonomies and how they can be adapt to fit with the site.

The site I chose is called "Ladder Street" near "Man Mo Temple", a Taoist pilgrimage where there are endless stairs connected to the top of a mountain.

 Overall Site Isometric Process

There are various street furniture along the staircases that ascended to the temple from the flat ground level. Giving a closer look you will see a different items spread across the site.

Closer look at the 50m limit

According to Shinto beliefs of Kami and the possession of spirit in every single objects has led me to adopt this idea as a concept of "Empathy", in other words to make others feel as if the inanimated objects are alive and feel what they are feeling.

Actor Taxonomy

1. Empathy

    - Anthropology - The concept of empathy will be approached by adding human characteristics to the object  hence giving it body language and movement. Also, some items will be added sound and vocal to chant
Shinto ceremonial songs around the site.

- Energy - In order to have movement and other appliances, one must have energy and the energy that will be harvested will be a representative of the main Kami of nature. Energies can also be harvested through physical movement and action.

2. Shinto Spiritual Walk

 - Phases - The walk along the site will adopt the layout of Shinto shrines where one must pass a threshold that divides the sacred and the profane. Next stage, the spirit of the people must be cleansed with water and finally the users will reach the main shrine in the center where rituals can be performed.
