Avartars of The Diaspora Plateau (Drawing Pinup)

The project explores the notion of Diaspora as political and religious current affair of Tibet and Tibet people that emplasize on an act of movement, migration, or scattering of people away from an established homeland together with the idea of Avatar as a graphical representation of the user or user's alter ego or character, this could either take a 3D form or a two dimensional form as an icon. These ideas were explored through the mean of information surfaces or billboards as the avatar for certain kind of users and information through the technique of anamorphic projection.

The challenge of the billboards is that they are inherently flat therefore in order for the "inhabitation of these billboards" meaning how to make the experience become immersive  here are some explorations into what types of graphice interface needed to provide these necessary depth. These graphic are ranging from very flat, 2 dimensional as number such as the information for the stock market, while at the same time, it could be a live broadcast from Tibet whcih are more spatially richer than the stock market information. Or It could be as deep as an interactive facebook walls that link different people and different kind of infomration from all around the world together into these "netwotked" surfaces.

A complete billboards forming a comprehensive view from an intentional vantage point

Another design challenge is how to elongate the congregation time during the act of crossing the road on the crosswalk and how to turn the corners adjacent to this crosswalk into an informal congregation space. Here, the notion of congregation is defined as a way of consuming shared public space in an informal setting.

The issue right now with the design is the observation deck which seems to be too foreign to the site as it took a form of a huge circular wooden deck hovering above the existing crosswalk. The initial thought was how to create longer congregation on the crosswalk, therefore I thought of this notion of taking a example of spanish steps and elevated it up so the space is serve as both a circulation space as well as a congregation space where people can choose to sit comfortably on the steps.

This issue of informal congregation will need to answer these following questions

1. How to create diversion of traffic flows and pedestrian flows
2 How to create attentions for the necessary informal congregation to take place, meaning that how to sustain passerby attention so that through the act of consuming these performance they will congregate at the same time.
3. How apply the techniques of Anarmorphic projection to the street furniture to delayed and divert certain flows inorder for the congregation in the middle of the crosswalk to be expanded in time scale.

These execution will take these keywords as primary drivers

1. Directionality of planes
2. Distance
3. Accumulation l Layers
4. Path of moving views
3. offset for vertical planes and extrusion for horizontal planes
